Vantage Launches Support for FOCUS 1.3 Imports and Exports
Import and export cloud cost data using the latest FinOps FOCUS standard.

Today, Vantage announces support for the FOCUS 1.3 specification, enabling customers to ingest, analyze, and export cloud cost data using the latest version of the FinOps Open Cost and Usage Specification (FOCUS). Customers can now upload cost data formatted with FOCUS 1.3 fields, using Vantage Custom Providers, and export Commitment Reports directly in the FOCUS 1.3 format, making it easier to standardize cost data across cloud providers and financial systems.
FinOps practitioners increasingly rely on FOCUS as a standardized schema for cloud cost and usage data. By defining common fields and structures across providers, FOCUS allows organizations to normalize billing data from multiple sources and reduce the complexity of working with proprietary billing formats. The 1.3 release expands the specification with additional dimensions and improved modeling of financial constructs, such as contract commitments, allowing organizations to more accurately track both costs they currently incur as well as the costs they contractually owe.
Now, with support for FOCUS 1.3 in Vantage, customers can upload custom cost data that includes fields such as BillingAccountId, SubAccountId, RegionName, and ServiceSubcategory using the Vantage Custom Providers integration. Additionally, Vantage has expanded its Commitment Reports to include all Contract Commitment fields defined in the FOCUS 1.3 specification and allows these reports to be exported directly in the FOCUS 1.3 format. Together, these capabilities allow teams to standardize cost ingestion and reporting around the FOCUS specification while continuing to analyze and optimize spend within the Vantage platform.
To get started, customers can upload cost data through Custom Providers or export Commitment Reports in the FOCUS 1.3 format from the Vantage console. For more details, see the documentation for Custom Providers and Commitments.

4. What is FOCUS?
FOCUS (FinOps Open Cost and Usage Specification) is an open standard from the FinOps Foundation that defines a common schema for cloud billing and usage data. It standardizes column names and semantics across providers, enabling consistent cost analysis across AWS, Azure, GCP, and others.
5. How can I upload costs in FOCUS format?
Customers can upload cost data using the Custom Providers integration and include any columns defined in the FOCUS 1.3 specification.
In addition, Vantage Commitment Reports now include the full set of Contract Commitment fields defined in the FOCUS 1.3 specification. These reports can be exported in a format that adheres to the FOCUS 1.3 schema, allowing teams to use Vantage data within other FinOps tooling, data warehouses, or reporting workflows that expect FOCUS-compliant datasets.
6. Will AI-Powered Custom Providers be updated to store additional columns from FOCUS 1.3?
Yes. When uploading non-FOCUS CSVs, Vantage will attempt to map to the FOCUS 1.3 fields to retain as much cost metadata as possible.
