Today, Vantage is launching focus.vantage.sh, a free web-based tool that converts cost CSVs or PDF invoices from select Cloud, AI, and SaaS providers into CSVs in the FinOps FOCUS 1.1 format.
The FinOps FOCUS (FinOps Open Cost and Usage Specification) format is a community-driven standard that defines how cost and usage data should be structured and labeled. It enables practitioners to analyze costs from different vendors in a consistent and comparable way.
Cloud providers like AWS, Azure, Databricks, GCP, Grafana, and Oracle have adopted FinOps FOCUS for exporting billing data. Many other vendors, including AI and SaaS providers, offer no way to export data in this format. FinOps practitioners who want data in a unified structure must manually transform invoices or write custom parsers.
With focus.vantage.sh, users can select a provider, upload a CUR or invoice file, and receive a CSV in the FinOps FOCUS format. This standardized output can be used for custom provider uploads in FinOps platforms like Vantage, or for analysis in spreadsheets and business intelligence tools. We also show a mapping of how each column in the original report corresponds to FinOps FOCUS fields, helpful for learning, or if you need to create your own custom parser.
Visit focus.vantage.sh to try it out.
Note: focus.vantage.sh is a work in progress. We’re actively adding more providers. If you have access to CURs or invoices from a provider not yet supported, please email us at emily@vantage.sh to contribute. For feedback and suggestions please email emily@vantage.sh.
1. What is being launched today?
Vantage is launching focus.vantage.sh, a free tool to convert cost and usage data to the FinOps FOCUS format.
2. Who is the customer?
This tool is for anyone working with cloud or SaaS billing data, engineers, FinOps practitioners, analysts, and finance teams.
3. How much does this cost?
There is no cost to use focus.vantage.sh, and you do not need to be a registered user of Vantage to access it. It’s a publicly available website.
4. How is Vantage mapping the items to FinOps FOCUS specifications?
We analyze each provider’s CUR or invoice format and map it to the appropriate FinOps FOCUS fields. You can see the mapping tables at the bottom of each provider’s page on the site.
6. What file types are supported?
We currently support CSV or PDF files, depending on the provider. Each provider’s upload section specifies supported formats.
7. Which providers are currently supported?
We currently support Cloudflare, ClickHouse, and Temporal. We provide instructions on how to download your cost data in FinOps FOCUS for AWS, Azure, Databricks, GCP, Grafana, and Oracle. We are planning to add support for all the providers Vantage supports: Confluent, Coralogix, Datadog, Fastly, GitHub, Linode, MongoDB, New Relic, PlanetScale, Snowflake, and Twilio. If there are other providers you’d like to see please email us at emily@vantage.sh.
8. What if the converter doesn’t work for my file?
If your file isn’t converting correctly or is from an unsupported version, please email us at emily@vantage.sh. We may be able to fix the issue or use your sample to improve our mapping logic.
9. Is my data secure?
Yes. Files are processed securely and not stored permanently. We do not retain your uploaded data after the conversion completes.
10. Will this support APIs or automation?
Not yet. We’re focused on getting the manual upload experience right first. If you’re interested in API-based conversions or batch processing, let us know.
11. How can I contribute or make a suggestion?
If you have access to a provider’s invoice or cost report that isn’t yet supported, please send it to us. We’ll securely handle it and use it to improve the converter. Reach out via email emily@vantage.sh with suggestions or data.
